The transformation of a teenager

Our Butterfly Princess is on the final lap of all things school! So many exciting events and activities this year and of course the all important final matric exams.

It actually started in October last year already when she was confirmed at church. Then it was time for birthday number 17 at the end of October and arrangements for her learner’s licence early in December. She sailed through that with flying colours and we started basic driving lessons. The ‘official’ driving lessons will follow once we have smooth pull away, stopping without causing neck injuries and basic parking under control.

Career aptitude tests were done in early January and after the feedback session in February, applications will follow in short order. Hopefully resulting in a fulfilling and enriching career!!

Still to come, apart from the academic side, are a number of social engagements culminating in the  matric dance. Happy to report that the dress is already in the bag (!) and all that's left are the shoes and accessories … and a date.

After the exams, a well deserved holiday with friends and then the long wait for the results. With a bit of luck a car and driver’s licence will give the first taste of adult life and independence. ;-)

So, our lovely Butterfly Princess, may this be an absolutely, amazingly awesome year. Enjoy every moment (yes, even when you’re studying) because it will be over in a flash!

Christmas 2015

Christmas felt almost unreal this year. I finally got into the spirit when the old tree gave up the ghost and a replacement had to be bought. Some delightful fairy lights added just the right touch with the rest of the decorations.

We had a Christmas dinner on 22 December with Jeané and Pieter at Enzo's Pizzeria - nothing better to spread the Christmas cheer than good pizza and 2 jugs of sangria... :-)

Christmas day itself was spent with our friend Benita and her sons. It was a lovely, relaxed day filled with food, drink, games and lots of fun and laughter. It doesn't get much better than that!
