Breather

In the midst of preparing for the elections, there was a "5 minute" window for a quick breather in the beginning of July. A long weekend visit with Megan and Immy to her parents in Knysna. Nat and Milly graciously included me in their family weekend.

We travelled most of Thursday. After the delays (which tested even my Pollyanna skills), we were welcomed at the airport and ended up eating pies at a lovely place called the Bell. The weather was sunny, but as Milly warned, it was the Oyster festival and the weather was bound to change for the worse. Privately I thought, there is no chance of having rainy weather after this beautiful afternoon. However, the Oyster festival struck and the next morning was chilly, dark and rainy. Good news actually, because we lounged around in our PJs until noon and later in the afternoon took a drive to Buffel's Bay to look at the stormy seas. It was the first time I'd seen birds flying and staying in the same place!

Saturday was beautiful again and we had a great lunch at East Head Café. Did some sightseeing afterwards and had a very relaxing evening. The drinks service, as is customary, started at 18:00 and we were introduced to some Fynbos gin - what a wonderful treat. :-)

Alas on Sunday morning it was time to pack before we headed out to Tottie's for a very interesting and tasty buffet lunch. Definitely to be recommended. A visit to the Waterfront concluded a lovely weekend. Much too soon it was time for Megan and I to head back to the airport. Immy was fortunate enough to visit a bit longer...

Sharing a Wimpy waffle with banana and caramel seemed the perfect way to brace ourselves for the trip back. Our wonderful friend Chetan fetched us from the airport at about 21:00. After he dropped us off, my husband asked whether he is married and without hesitation I answered: "Yes, but he is also a saint".

Thanks again to Nat and Milly for a very memorable weekend - it was really a privilege to spend time with you!

Without further ado then, some photographic evidence.

A very beautiful sight indeed!
