The wedding

2019, and there were two rather big events on the calendar. The first was the National and Provincial elections on 8 May and the second, and far more interesting from a personal perspective, The Wedding! Friday, 9 August.

As far as wedding preparations go, this one was a breeze! Marni was the most relaxed bride and probably because of that, everything fell into place seemlessly. The dress (the one which brought tears to the eyes!) was found at the first shop in under 30 minutes.  Roelof's suit equally easy and on special discount to boot. The venue (De Haven Oost) was the second one they looked at and came with very reasonable prices as well as a number of free services. The minister (Pieter), the photographers (Kira and Dewald) and the violinists for the ceremony (Morkel and Judith) are all good friends. And the cherry on top was certainly the tiara and wedding jewellery Marni made with the help of our very talented and amazing jewellery teacher, Sanet. She also happens to be a very successful lawyer who did their marriage contract as a gift. As if that wasn't enough, she was also the driving force behind the macarons we made as gifts to the guests.

The day itself was absolutely beautiful, sunny and pleasantly warm. Since most of the guests were able to join us a month earlier for the joint kitchen braai and garage tea, the 'kuier' before the ceremony was a buzzing affair.

It was a day of love and friendship and a cozy, relaxed atmosphere! Without further ado then, some photos which will pay testament to a very memorable day indeed.

One of my favourite photos

With Aunt Charlotte and Granny Dina

Unbeknownst to each other, both sisters changed shoes after the ceremony and photos. MC Leslie fortunately captured the moment when they discovered it.

Their first dance was spectacular and flawless (despite the nerves :-))
