Umhlanga December 2016

There is no typo in the title - the reference to 2016 is quite correct!  Sadly, it came to this – on the very last day of 2017, I'm doing my first and last post for the year, about an event which took place in December 2016. What can I say, 2017 was somewhat rough.

Anyway, back to the business at hand. We had a wonderful holiday in Umhlanga at the beginning of December last year. Not our usual haunt in December (heat, humidity, lots of people etc.), but there were matric holiday considerations which played a role when the booking was made earlier in the year. After a rather eventful wedding on Friday 2 December (think smashed window on my car, husband's stolen cellphone), we left a day later than planned on 6 December, having to sort out the logistics of repair and replace. Thankfully the rest of the holiday was without incident and we had a very relaxing time.

Without wasting any more time, herewith the customary photographic evidence ...

The view

The place

And yes you guessed it, the beach...

Lovely sight at the end of the pier! I held on to my phone very tightly while taking this photo though...

A wonderful, well frequented coffee kiosk on the promenade!

Finally, a family goofing off - you may recognize some of them...

The end

PS: Chronicles of the two holidays in 2017 will follow in due course. Hopefully before December 2018 ;-)

You STILL have the best blog in the Blogosphere Universe - even though it was apparently from the previous year. Hope all is well with you and family. Great pictures - looks like you had lots of fun on your beach holiday.

We also had a miserable year in 2017 (medical issues - hopefully far in the rear view mirror now). We didn’t even send out a holiday letter. Onward and upward...

Jo Anna and I just got back to Houston from a cruise to Mexico. Lots of salsa and chips and beers (but no good Scotch whisky). Had to wait til I got home to raid the Scotch cabinet.

I haven’t traveled to Africa in a year but hope to stop off in Jo-burg for a day. Let us know if you are ever headed in this direction. My email is unchanged (duneintl@aol.com).

    Best regards
